Tumbleweed announce Wollongong Uni show

Wollongong rock icons, Tumbleweed, have announced that they will test some new material with a local show in March, before heading into the studio to record a new album.

The band released the news via Facebook, saying that they will “try out some of the new songs LIVE before recording the album” with a gig at Wollongong University on March 30.

“Come along and bring your friends. We will also be playing many of your old favourites too!” Tumbleweed posted today, promising more live shows would be announced “soon.”

The UOW Unibar have posted a Facebook event for the gig, telling fans to “Stay tuned for ticketing info.”

The band have been almost silent since playing a handful of promotional shows in capital cities in mid-2011, apparently holed up in the rehearsal studio working on new material. With this announcement comes the strongest indication in months that the stoner-rock veterans, best known for supporting Nirvana on their only Australian tour back in 1992, are ready to relaunch themselves yet again.

We’ll keep you updated with the Wollongong gig as more details come to light.

UPDATE: Kaleidoscope and Sydney Girls Choir will support Tumbleweed at the Wollongong Uni show.
