Rewind Festival only 3 weeks away!

The inaugural Australian incarnation of the 80s-themed Rewind Festival is just three weeks away! To take place at the specially designed Bluescope Field in Kembla Grange, it’s the biggest music event Wollongong has hosted in living memory.

Moving over to Australia in 2011, the UK-based Rewind festival has been one of the most successful and well-received festivals in England since its beginning. The lineup for the Aussie version – headlined by The Human League, Kool and the Gang, and Right Said Fred – more than speaks for itself, but it’s what ELSE the festival offers, apart from music, that sets it apart from most others.

For one, it’s a camping festival. There’s only around twenty acts confirmed so far, over two days, meaning you won’t be running around between stages trying to see the bands you want to see. You can camp onsite in tents; or you can go the “glamping” (glamorous camping) option, with options to rent teepees, campervans or RVs onsite, if you don’t fancy the idea of pitching a tent in the mud.

There is a family funfair, karaoke stages, themed bars, silent disco, spas and street entertainers roving the site. There will also be a massive range of food, drink and treats onsite to keep you fed and watered.

And of course, you’ve got the music. A massive range of classic acts, playing some of the most iconic tunes of the past 30 years, right in the middle of the Illawarra; what more could you ask for in a festival? There will also be a small lineup of acoustic acts to open the festival on Friday night, with that announcement in coming weeks.

  1. MAN I wish we could still camp here in Oregon. Comfortably, I mean. 🙂
