“80s REWIND FESTIVAL”- The Human League, Kool & The Gang, Bananarama

Good times, indeed, Kool And The Gang...

Here’s surely the most bizarre thing you’ll read all day.

The UK-based “80s Rewind Festival” will travel to Australia later this year, and Wollongong has been selected to host the two-day concert.

An absolutely incredible range of classic 1980s acts including The Human League, Kool and the Gang, Bananarama, ABC, Mental As Anything, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Pseudo Echo will play the weekend-long festival, which will take place at Bluescope Field, Kembla Grange between October 28-30.

See below for ticketing details.

80’s Rewind, which began in the United Kingdom in 2009, has attracted over 30,000 fans each year since its inception. With many of these heritage acts heading to Wollongong for the first time – and with the festival format sure to attract huge numbers of tourists and out-of-town visitors – this event may well be the biggest music event ever staged in the Illawarra region.

This year, Rewind festival hosts two events in the UK – one each in Scotland and England – with The Human League, The Village People, Billy Ocean and Bananarama among the acts featured.

We will be keeping you updated with more news on Rewind festival as it breaks; all jokes aside, this will be one of the biggest events ever staged in the Illawarra, and the calibre of artists speaks for itself.

how many people in their late 30’s to 50’s are really going to want to camp out in the cold and mud. Most people who would go to an event like this would not want to pack up the kids and do that from what ive heard. Very silly idea.. which is unfortunate cos its a great line up.

    • J.O.S.H. says:

From what I can tell so far, camping isn’t mandatory; you can buy two single-day tickets, or a weekend pass, but camping is extra. You can stay at home (if you’re local) or get a hotel, and go in each day.
Plus, the UK version is based around the idea of “glamping” – i.e. “glam camping.” It’s nice camping. You can rent a nice tent, or hire/bring a campervan or mini bus to sleep in.

    • Lisa says:

We are leaving the kids home and getting a motel

    • john says:

In yesterdays Mercury it said this even was going to be held at Bluescope field at Kembla Grange. does anyone know where this is? I am local to the area so i know kembla grange but do not know what field they are referring to here.

    • J.O.S.H. says:

I assumed it would be at Kembla Grange racecourse. But after they announced ‘Bluescope field,’ I was sort of confused. I have no idea where that would be; I even Googled it, and nothing comes up. I’m still going to guess that it wil be at the racecourse, because that’s really the only big open space in the whole area!

      • julie says:

yeah I googled it also and got nothing. So I also was assuming the racecourse, plus its the only place in kembla grange that will have the amenities for such an event.

      • Lisa says:

YEP IF you google Bluescope Field, Kembla grange it shows the RACECOURSE.

        CAN’T WAIT

  6. So gotta go, gonna get a flat top for this!

  7. i hope we get to know which artists are on each day before go
