Q&A – Jono, The Good God Damned

With Friday’s Formal Fundraiser gig at Rydges CBD Bar fast approaching, Radar wanted to find out a little about one of the bands on the lineup; The Good God Damned. Jono from the band was good enough to sit down and answer a few quick questions for us.

Tell us a bit about The Good God Damned
The Good God Damned is dirty blues rock. You can find us on Facebook.
How long has the band been together?
We’ve been together for 6 months or so.
What other bands or musicians are the band influenced by?
I’m a huge Tom Waits fan. Mitch is into Metallica. Kuz loves James Bond theme tunes; ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ and all that malarky. And Dane listens almost exclusively to gangsta rap. NWA sorta stuff. He’s a very angry young man, that Dane.
What can we expect from a GGD live show?
You can expect people standing on drum kits, messed up Sunday School songs, drummers dropping or throwing sticks, guitarists dropping or throwing guitars, bass players playing without shoes and a singer with no pants.
Any CDs/EPs/releases so far?
We have a free CD that we give out at shows. It even has John Lithgow as a guest appearance on some of them. I’m not even joking!
What’s on the horizon for GGD? Any recording/tours coming up in the foreseeable future?
We’re doing a film clip for the song about a Scottish cross dresser. That’ll be fun. I’m trying to get Mitch into a dress. But thats unrelated to the film clip.

The Good God Damned join A Cat Named Kesey, Rocking Horse and Pat Arnold at CBD Bar on Friday, for Soundbreak Live’s Formal Fundraiser gig. Entry is just $5, with all profits going towards the Starlight Foundation. The last Soundbreak charity show was huge, and this one is set to be even bigger! So come along, get a little loose, show your support for some great local acts, and help out a great cause at the same time.

For more information, check the Facebook event page; go RSVP while you’re over there!
