WATCH: Over-Reactor vs Main Street, ‘The Energy’

On May 12th, Melbourne rap/punk crew Over-Reactor (featuring Ezekiel Ox from Mammal, and Cory Blight from Dukes of Windsor) were scheduled to play a show at the Harp Hotel, which was unfortunately cancelled at the last minute. After unsuccessfully searching for a new venue to host the gig, Over-Reactor ended up at the Fairy Meadow pad of Main Street studios; and the idea of writing and recording an entire song in just one sitting was floated…

The result of the collaboration, dubbed ‘Over-Reactor vs Main Street,’ is here; ‘The Energy.’ Recorded in a fourteen-hour session, and featuring the talents of a host of locals (look hard, and see who you can spot!), it’s a pounding, bass-heavy track blending rap and hip-hop with rock and punk. With Ezekiel Ox, and local Simon Grant (of Free Agent Crew) on vocals, and featuring contributions from members of Mind At Large, Common Grounds, The Sacred Truth and Bennie James, it’s an amazing effort considering the amount of preparation that actually went into it.

Over-Reactor have also just announced that they will be supporting Karnivool on their upcoming tour; see if they bust out a live rendition of ‘The Energy’ when the tour rolls into Waves Nightclub at Towradgi on June 16!
