FRIDAY: Mother and Son, The Yard Apes, Midnight Woolf, The Gooch Palms @ 5 Crown Lane, Wollongong.
6pm, $5 entry, 18+
Tickets available for pre-sale at 5 Crown Lane, or on the door (if not sold out)

While this gig may not feature a block-busting collection of household names, this is Radar’s must-see gig for this week because of the its venue; 5 Crown Lane.
Once a regular venue for smaller live bands and performances, live music at the CBD location was halted last year after noise complaints from nearby residents. The venue since relaunched as an art space and record store, hosting the occasional acoustic performance; but this gig from hometown heroes Mother and Son will be the first ‘loud’ gig the venue has held since the relaunch.
Mother and Son will be using the show as the launch party for their debut album, and to kick-start an extensive tour in support of the LP. Blending dirty rock’n’roll with garage and surf rock, the two-piece band – consisting of Bodie Jarman and Mat Teudt – have been making waves nationwide with their raucous and rowdy live shows.
Support on the night comes from The Yard Apes and Midnight Woolf (both from Melbourne) and Sydney’s The Gooch Palms. The gig will also feature DJ sets from bandmembers, as well as a gallery showing from local artists.
So get along to the gig, and support the re-opening of a great Wollongong venue. This will be Mother and Son’s first Wollongong show in ages; make sure you get a ticket in advance, because they will sell out. Tickets are five bucks, and it’s a BYO event. What more could you ask for?
